The purpose of this project is to capitalize on yeasts – secondary product from the fermentative industry, in the context of the circular economy and the promotion of “green technologies”, in order to obtain feed with high nutritional value and antioxidant potential, beneficial in the animal nutrition process. Supplementation of non-conventional feedstuffs in poultry diets is now widely used to serve as growth and health promoter and helps to improve the production performance of poultry without any harmful side effects. At the national level, no research has been undertaken regarding the utilization of the resulting yeasts as a secondary product from the fermentation industry (wine, beer, alcohol) on poultry nutrition. Internationally, there is an increased interest in the qualitative characterization (biochemical composition, antioxidant capacity assessment, etc.) of these secondary products, but with few studies on animal nutrition. The project proposes capitalizing on the expertise potential of the two research centers on a topic that requires the complementarity of research activities and the existing research infrastructure in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

The specific objectives of the projects are as follows:

O1. Identification and evaluation of the quality of wine yeast obtained as a secondary product from a prominent company in the Republic of Moldova

O2. Identification and evaluation of the quality of brewer’s yeast obtained as a secondary product from a prominent company in the Republic of Moldova

O3. Identification and evaluation of the quality of pot ale obtained as a secondary product from a profile company in Romania

O4. Comparative study of the quality of the three secondary products resulting from the fermentative industry, in order to identify the valuable compounds that can confer added value to some feeds

O5. Nutritional design of feed fortified by the addition of secondary products applying technologies and methods with a low impact on the environment, but a positive impact on diets and animal health

O6. Determining the effects of applying the nutritional plan on the productive performance of the batch of experimental broiler chickens
